Roof Dryer Vent Leaking

Use a screwdriver to release these so that you can vacuum. The hot moist air that is exhausted by the dryer has nowhere to go. Dryer pipe leaks often arise as the result of their proximity to water sources or condensation. Try putting some distance between the dryer and air conditioner pipes so that each has its own designated operating room.

Dryerjacks are the first roof vents designed to meet the more stringent venting requirements of dryer exhaust systems. That part of the pipe is getting cold and the very moist hot air from the clothes dryer is turning into liquid water as it gets closer to the exterior of the condominium s exterior wall. This creates a blockage in the pipe blocking the flow of air. Vent pipe leaks during heavy rain can occur if you have cracks in your vent pipe boot or flashing.

A leaking dryer vent may cause mildew and mold in your home. These boots vary in quality flexibility and longevity. A blocked vent is a common cause for dryer vent leaks. When your roof was installed each vent pipe received a flexible boot to seal water around the round surface of the vent pipe.

Unlike the vents shown above left the dryerjack affects airflow by less than 01 water column inches of pressure. Sun exposure and heat especially during the summer can cause the rubber boot to crack creating the space for water to leak in. Severe cases might even cause water damage. Stray lint and fabric may accumulate in the vent over time.

You can put the tube of the vacuum directly up the vent. The leak is being caused by condensation that is forming either inside or outside of the actual clothes dryer vent pipe. A leaking dryer vent increases moisture that can lead to mold growth. There should be clamps that connect the exhaust pipe of the dryer to the vent.

The increased moisture can contribute to mold growth if ventilation is not adequate enough to prevent moisture buildup around the location of the leak. Unfortunately the rubber boot damage often becomes the main cause of roof vent leaking. In many cases air conditioner pipes that touch or lean against dryer vents can cause leakage in the latter appliance.
