Ps4 Pro Fan Rest Mode

Over the last few days i noticed i could hear the fans running on my ps4 pro when it s in rest mode.

Well yes but why is it hot in rest mode. This hasn t always been a. If i put my hand near the back i can feel heat being pumped out. Rest mode this light may appear yellow or amber to some.

I know they ll often kick in when a download starts up or something but this is permenant and still happens days after i ve switched my ps4 off. There are three methods are available for entering standby mode. I guess sony weren t pulling the wool over our eyes. After that little glitch my ps4 was quiet in rest mode again.

Overall the power consumption of the ps4 pro is fairly good. You have to get really close to the pro to hear the fan in rest mode or otherwise. Blinking white then transitions to off. Not having to exit out of games and being able to resume quickly is one of the ps4 s best features imo. When compared to the power consumption of the nintendo switch it might seem like it is a little more on the high side but i guess having a mechanical disk and disc drive will cause an immediate increase. Rest mode is a low power state when the ps4 can charge controllers download and install content. People saying it s normal for the fan to run to cool the system when it s hot.

My place is always very cool. If there are no check marks set under settings power save settings set functions available in standby mode there is no need for standby mode and the system turns off completely. Your ps4 uses rest mode by default so if that s what you want you re done. I always do that though.

But if you want to actually turn your ps4 off long press the playstation button at the center of your controller. Might have to do with the last update. I didn t think it was an issue. Yes i have noticed my fan running in rest mode.

Since this seems not to occur on all devices it might be a weird combination of multiple factors. I live by the ocean. The psvr processing box stays white instead turning red too. Touch the power button on the front of the ps4 for at least 1 second until the system beeps.

Select power options and then select turn off ps4 instead of enter rest mode that will just turn your ps4 off that one time however. 1 point 3 years ago.
