It was originally poured in multiple sections so it had some seams that looked like cracks.

When i say bond the concrete you are lying on top off needs to be a rough finish like scabbled.
Now we have done several concrete countertops before and have removed the old countertop and poured a whole new one.
Lay it over the mold and using bolt cutters cut it to shape staying at least 1 inch from the edges of the form all the way around.
However proper prep work is needed.

Now the diy concrete countertops will dry overnight and they will be ready for the sealer.

Drill screws every 4 6 inches around the top of your mold.

You can suspend the steel mesh from these screws after you ve poured in half of your concrete.
I found it was easier to apply the sealer and finish by pouring it in a line instead of trying to spread out a puddle.
You could drill holes into the existing concrete surface and insert steel pins and then the mesh on top.
There are a couple cracks but all concrete cracks.

Here s the catch if the existing surface is somewhat in a structurally sound shape and elevating its height to a few inches won t be a problem you can certainly freshen it up with a new layer of concrete.
Engineer if you are laying pouring concrete over existing concrete there needs to be a bond.
In the video below i poured a new stamped concrete patio slab right over the old existing concrete.
Check that the base coat is an even thickness throughout the top.
With the roller sleeve still saturated roll the front edge of the counter then lightly push the thin line of epoxy over the edge.
